Make sure to read the <strong>Installation</strong> Considerations section for importantinstallation information.Data Protection for Exchange is available in the following packages:Paid in FullThis package contains a license component <strong>and</strong> is a complete st<strong>and</strong>-alonerelease of the product.Program Temporary Fix (PTF)This package does not contain a license component. It is created to installover a previously installed version of Data Protection for Exchange.<strong>Installation</strong> considerations:v The default installation directory is Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\TDPExchange. If aTivoli Storage Manager product exists, the path to that product becomes theData Protection for Exchange default installation directory. You can override thedefault installation directory <strong>and</strong> specify a different installation directory.However, installing all Tivoli Storage Manager products <strong>and</strong> components intothe same base directory is highly recommended. The base directory is ProgramFiles\Tivoli\TSM. Note that you cannot override subdirectory names.v If you are storing backup objects created by Data Protection for ExchangeVersion 1, you must retain Data Protection for Exchange Version 1 for as long asyou retain those backup objects.v To uninstall Data Protection for Exchange (Version 1, Version 2, Version 5.1.5, orVersion 5.2.1), open the Control Panel on your Windows workstation <strong>and</strong> selectthe Add/Remove Programs item.Follow these steps to install Data Protection for Exchange:1. Insert the Data Protection for Exchange CD into the CD drive.Note:v Data Protection for Exchange must be installed from an account that is amember of the local Administrators group for the machine on which theExchange server is running.If autostart is not enabled, perform the following steps:a. Select Run from the Start menu.b. Enter X:\TDPExchange\win32\client\setup where X is your CD driveletter.c. Click OK to start the installation program.2. Select a language for the installation (see “Language Packs” on page 30 formore information).Chapter 2. Installing Data Protection for Exchange 29
