On the Tivoli Storage Manager server:Perform these steps on the Tivoli Storage Manager server:1. Define the policy domains, policy sets, management classes, copy groups, <strong>and</strong>storage pools needed to meet your Data Protection for Exchange backup <strong>and</strong>restore requirements. For VSS operations, Tivoli Storage Manager serverauthentication must be on.2. Register your Data Protection for Exchange node name <strong>and</strong> password with theTivoli Storage Manager register node comm<strong>and</strong>. For example: For VSSoperations, this node is the Target Node. Note that when registering nodes tothe Tivoli Storage Manager server specifically for VSS operations, do notspecify the Tivoli Storage Manager USerid=NONE parameter. VSS operationswill fail when this parameter is specified.3. If not already defined, register your Tivoli Storage Manager backup-archiveclient node name <strong>and</strong> password for the machine where the Exchange Serverinstalled. For example:For VSS operations, this agent node is the LocalDSMAGENT Node.4. (VSS only) If you plan to perform off-loaded backups, register the TivoliStorage Manager backup-archive client node name <strong>and</strong> password for themachine that will perform the VSS off-loaded backups. For example:This agentnode is the Remote DSMAGENT Node. Note that BAOFF is used in thisexample (<strong>and</strong> in Step 5) to differentiate between this Remote DSMAGENTNode <strong>and</strong> the Local DSMAGENT Node (Step 3). You can replace BAOFF withthe node name of your backup-archive client. If you do not plan to performoff-loaded backups, you can skip this step.5. (VSS only) Define the proxy node relationship (for the Target Node <strong>and</strong> agentnodes) with the Tivoli Storage Manager grant proxynode comm<strong>and</strong>. Forexample:grant proxynode target=DP agent=BAnodename,BAOFF2. On the machine running the Exchange Server:Perform these steps on the machine where the Exchange Server is installed <strong>and</strong>running:1. Specify your Data Protection for Exchange node name <strong>and</strong> communicationmethod in the dsm.opt file located (by default) in the Data Protection forExchange installation directory. Additional options are also available.2. Specify your Data Protection for Exchange preferences (such as language, dateformat, log file, etc.) in the tdpexc.cfg file located (by default) in the DataProtection for Exchange installation directory. Use the set comm<strong>and</strong> or theConfiguration task in the Edit Menu of the Data Protection for ExchangeGUI.3.
