Also, when restoring a mailbox database to a RecoveryStorage Group, you must specify the Replay Restored Logs Only option orthe restore operation may fail. This note ONLY applies to Legacy restores.VSS restores to the Recovery Storage Group are NOT supported byMicrosoft with Exchange Server 2003 <strong>and</strong> Exchange Server 2007.Mount Databases After RestoreSelect this option to automatically mount databases within the storagegroup after the recovery completes. With Exchange Server 2003, if theLegacy restore operation is a mailbox restore to the Recovery StorageGroup, the database mounted is the database in the Recovery StorageGroup, not the database in the original storage group.Disable VSS Instant RestoreSelect this option to bypass volume-level copy <strong>and</strong> instead use file-levelcopy to restore the files from a VSS Backup that resides on local shadowvolumes. Bypassing volume-level copy means that Exchange database files,log files, <strong>and</strong> the checkpoint file are the only data overwritten on thesource volumes. This can result in a longer restore processing time. If thisoption is not selected, volume level snapshot restore is used for these VSSBackup if the backup exists on volumes that support it. The default valueis to use volume level snapshot restore if supported.Restore IntoSelect the name of the Exchange Server 2007 storage group into which theVSS Backup will be restored. In order to restore into the Recovery StorageGroup (RSG), the RSG must already exist (with the databases to berestored already added to it) before attempting the restore operation. Notethat VSS restores to the Recovery Storage Group are NOT supported byMicrosoft with Exchange Server 2003.Data Protection for Exchange in a MSCS or VCS environmentConsider the following information when running Data Protection for Exchange ina MSCS or VCS environment:v The GUI MUST be invoked from the comm<strong>and</strong> line with the /excserverparameter. For example, if the Exchange virtual server name on the cluster isexc1, the comm<strong>and</strong> line entry (GUI invocation) istdpexc /excserver=exc1v The Start menu shortcut for the Data Protection for Exchange GUI applicationMUST be modified. Modify the Start menu shortcut for the Data Protection forExchange GUI application by performing the following steps:1. Right-mouse click on the Data Protection for Exchange GUI icon.2. Select Properties.3. Select Shortcut.4. Enter the following text in the Target window:"C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\TDPExchange\tdpexc.exe /excserver=exc1"Chapter 4.
