IBM ConfidentialAgentProtection for Exchange configuration file (tdpexc.cfg by default). You canuse the Configuration task in the Edit Menu of the GUI or the tdpexcc setcommand to specify this parameter.nodeThe node name of a separate machine that must also have thebackup-archive client, VSS provider, and the Exchange SystemManagement Tools installed (make sure you install the same level of theExchange System Management Tools that is installed on your Exchangeproduction server). This machine is responsible for performing themovement of VSS snapshot data from local shadow volumes to the TivoliStorage Manager server. It is also responsible for performing the ExchangeIntegrity Check. This node name is referred to as the Remote DSMAGENTNode and is specified with the remotedsmagentnode parameter in the DataProtection for Exchange configuration file (tdpexc.cfg by default). You canuse the Configuration task in the Edit Menu of the GUI or the tdpexcc setcommand to specify this parameter. The choice of available machinesdepends on whether the machines have access to the local shadowvolumes that contain the VSS snapshot backups. This node name is onlyvalid for VSS environments that support transportable shadow copies. It isnot supported if you are using the default VSS system provider. Refer toyour VSS provider documentation for details.Make sure that the localdsmagentnode and remotedsmagentnode are registered tothe same Tivoli Storage Manager server that is specified in the Data Protection forExchange options file (dsm.opt) and the backup-archive client options file (alsodsm.opt).Specifying Data Protection for Exchange optionsOnce Data Protection for Exchange is registered to Tivoli Storage Manager, severalData Protection for Exchange parameters need to be configured. The Tivoli StorageManager administrator should have provided you with the node name, password, and the communications method with the appropriate parameters to connect to theTivoli Storage Manager server. These values, together with other parameters, arestored in an options file located (by default) in the Data Protection for Exchangeinstallation directory. The default options file name is dsm.opt. To modify theinitial dsm.opt file, open dsm.opt using a text editor.Attention: Make sure that the Data Protection for Exchange options file (dsm.opt)and the backup-archive client options file (also dsm.opt) specify the same TivoliStorage Manager server. The options file includes the following parameters, which are required for initialconfiguration:NODenameThe Tivoli Storage Manager node name is the unique name by which TivoliStorage Manager recognizes the machine running Data Protection forExchange.COMMMethodThis option specifies the communication protocol to use between the DataProtection for Exchange node with the Tivoli Storage Manager server. DataProtection for Exchange supports the same set of communication protocolssupported by other Tivoli Storage Manager clients on Win 32 platforms.Chapter 3.
