Actual Performance
DCS participated in Cluster structures at national level
and even led some Task Teams.
Operation Masibambisane was transferred to the
Social Reintegration Chief Directorate.
This activity did not take place due to the Operation
Masibambisane being transferred to Social
Reintegration.
This SDI formed part of Operations Masibambisane
and was affected by the transfer of the Operation to
Social Reintegration.
104 Parliamentary Questions were answered.
13 presentations were made to the Select and Portfolio
Committees.
Measures were put in place to facilitate quality control
and timely submission of presentations.
The Cluster and Parliamentary Liaison Management
System which has allowed for a fax to email facility for
the whole Department has been developed.
Several meetings were held with IT to draw the
strategy for the implementation of the project.
Equipment was delivered and training will be on a
continuous bases. The initial project is expected to be
completed by December 2008.
Annual reports of the activities of some Non Governmental
Organizations (NGOs) and Community Based
Organizations (CBOs) which have issues affecting DCS
were noted.
Unable to make much progress because of lack of
capacity within the Directorate, however, contact was
made with some of the institutions such as Human
Rights Commission and Judicial Inspectorate of
Prisons even though the latter activities were taken
over by the Ministry.
