The last episode of<strong>the</strong> “Twilight” franchise drew this saga <strong>to</strong> a conclusion with unprecedented success: best start of <strong>the</strong> yearand 5 th biggest US success in <strong>2012</strong>, “Twilight chapitre 5” beat all previous “Twilights” with 4.5 millionbox-office sales. Overall, <strong>the</strong> “Twilight” saga generated more than 19 million ticket sales in France.SND also recorded a number of successes with genre films, including “Looper” (900,000 box-officesales), “The Impossible” (600,000), “Le pacte”, “Underworld: nouvelle ère”, as well as “Ghost Rider: espritde vengeance” (500 000). Lastly, SND’s first English-speaking production, <strong>the</strong> suspense thriller movie“The Secret”, attracted more than 570,000 cinema-goers, which was one of <strong>the</strong> best scores for this typeof films. The video sales market in <strong>2012</strong>In <strong>2012</strong>, <strong>the</strong> French market for retail physical video (DVD and High Definition formats) amounted <strong>to</strong> €1.1billion, a decline of 8.7% compared <strong>to</strong> 2011. This market has lost more than one third of its value (€800million) over <strong>the</strong> past eight years.
