Forinstance, you say “water” in English, “aqua” inLatin, “pani” and “ash” in Urdu and Persian,“jal” and “nir” in Hindi; but by repetition of thesenames alone, your thirst cannot be satisfied. Itis only by drinking the particular fluid whichis called by so many names that your thirst isappeased. By doing Simran of the world and<strong>its</strong> environments, they have so much takenpossession of us that we have become theworld and <strong>its</strong> environments. We have to use thesame methods, so as to eliminate all the worldlythoughts from within, by remembering sweetlyof the Lord in so many words devised by theSaints so far. So there are two uses of Simran:one use is to withdraw from the body bySimran of the electrified words given by a competentMaster, and the second is to drive out theworld and <strong>its</strong> thoughts from within us by theconstant remembrance of the Lord in so manyways as prescribed, the description of which hasbeen given above in detail.Kabir on Simran:I have given a digest of the whole subjectmatter in connection with Simran.
