Next we have to still themind, to make it free from the mental oscillationsthat continuously pull it this way andthat. To achieve stillness of the mind we haveto find within some center or pole to which itmay be drawn time and again, so that graduallywe succeed in stilling the mind at will. Untilsuch ground is found, an aspirant is in a verydelicate and slippery state. As he withdrawsfrom the outer world and <strong>its</strong> associations, andwa<strong>its</strong> for the dawn of the new world, he ishaunted by countless seed impressions hithertolying buried in the depth of unconsciousness.One can free himself from these either byright contemplation or by seeking aid throughprayer to the Power within. The surest and theeasiest way to cross over these hurdles is tothink of the form of the Master and to fix one’sattention in that form. This “tapping inside” or“knocking,” as it grows continuous and steady,gradually forces open the “Way in,” bringingto view endless vistas of spiritual visions andrapturous strains of Divine Symphonies.32
