Ensure each student has a general education composedof liberal knowledge, skills, applications, values, health,and personal performance experiences.2. Ensure each student has a thorough knowledge offundamental business concepts of appropriate breadthand depth and has the opportunity to integrate businessdisciplinary knowledge.3. Ensure each student has a thorough knowledge ofconcepts within a particular business specialty.4. Ensure each student has a thorough knowledge ofthe international and ethical dimensions of businessmanagement.5. Prepare undergraduate students for entry-level professionalpositions in business, industry, and government.6. Provide opportunities for business study for non-businessmajors at <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>.7. Prepare aspiring, high-achieving students for entry intograduate programs.8. Provide a reasonable level of direct contact withbusinesses and organizations to enhance application oflearned classroom concepts.9. Ensure academic programs adapt to changingrequirements in business professions, adapt to changingexpectations of businesses and other employers, arecurrent with national educational trends, and arereflective of educational debate within professionalassociations.Academic StandardsBusiness students pursuing the B.S.B.A. must meetthe requirements for admission to the college’s upperdivision. In addition, business administration studentsmust meet graduation standards beyond general universityrequirements.Students who are readmitted to the College of BusinessAdministration after an absence of two years or moremust meet all requirements of the college as of the date ofreadmission.Students transferring into the College of BusinessAdministration from other accredited colleges anduniversities must have earned a cumulative 2.50 QPA on a4.00 scale. The QPA requirement applies to all course worktaken at all universities prior to attending <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> students transferring from majors outsidethe College of Business Administration must have earnedeither an overall 2.50 QPA or a 2.50 QPA during their mostrecent full-time (12 or more credits) semester at <strong>Clarion</strong><strong>University</strong>.Credits for courses completed at other universities orcolleges may be transferable to <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>, but thegrades and quality points are not. Therefore, grades earned incourses accepted by the College of Business Administrationto satisfy requirements of the lower- or upper-division corewill not be used in the computation of the QPAs requiredby the academic standards of the College of BusinessAdministration.1. Mathematics requirements: All students in the College ofBusiness Administration are required to take MATH 131and 232. For MATH 232, students may substitute MATH260, 270, 271, or 272. Beginning in fall 1991, all studentsaccepted to the College of Business Administration mustearn a grade of C or better in each of these requiredmathematics courses.2. Separation of upper- and lower-division programs ofstudy: All business students must meet the requirementsfor admission to the upper-division course of study in theCollege of Business Administration. The upper-divisionconsists of all 300-level and above. No business studentis permitted to take any 300- or 400-level courses in theCollege of Business Administration until the student hasmet the following requirements:a. completed not less than 50 hours with a minimum2.00/4.00 QPA;b. completed mathematics requirements listed above;c. completed CIS 217;d. completed ECON 211 and 212 [grades for bothECON 211 and ECON 212 (or ECON 215) and theother lower division business core requirements(listed in e)] will be used to calculate the student’sLower Division Business Core quality-point average).Note: <strong>Undergraduate</strong> students enrolled in the HonorsProgram, or with a 3.40 QPA or higher, may takeECON 215: Principles of Economics in place ofECON 211 and ECON 212. ECON 215 is a four-creditcourse; therefore, students choosing this option musttake additional elective credits; ande. completed all required courses in the lower-divisionbusiness core ACTG 251, ACTG 252, ECON 221,ECON 222 (or ECON 230), and BSAD 240 (witha minimum 2.00/4.00 quality-point average). Note:<strong>Undergraduate</strong> students enrolled in the Honors Program,or with a 3.40 QPA or higher, may take ECON 230: in place
