In addition, several states nowrequire dual certification to teach individuals with disabilities.Students interested in this program should contact the chairof the Department of Special Education and RehabilitativeSciences or Education for more information.Special Education/Early ChildhoodMany employment opportunities exist in the state ofPennsylvania and throughout the country in pre-schoolspecial education programs. The College of Education andHuman Services offers a program of study which will providestudents interested in working with pre-school students withspecial needs dual certification in special education and earlychildhood education. Students completing this programare qualified to teach in special education programs, earlychildhood programs from pre-school to grade three, as wellas in special education infant stimulation and pre-schoolprograms. This program offers students an outstandingopportunity to obtain professional employment in infantand pre-school programs, as well as in special education.Completion of the following requirements will lead to dualstate certification in special education and early childhoodeducation:I.
