ECON 230 is a four-creditcourse, therefore, students choosing this options must takeadditional elective credits.Every business student must complete the courses in theupper-division business core (ECON 309 or ECON 310,MGMT 320, MKTG 360, FIN 370, MGMT 425, andBSAD 490), with a minimum 2.00/4.00 QPA, in orderto meet graduation requirements. Note: Students have theoption of taking either ECON 309 or ECON 310. ECON 222is a prerequisite for ECON 309. ECON 212 is a prerequisitefor ECON 310.3. Courses within the major: In order to graduate, studentsmust meet university requirements, the above standards,and achieve a minimum grade of C in each coursepresented as meeting the requirements for the major.There are 24 credits required of each business studentto be placed in the “major area.” Either 18 or 21 of thesecredits must come from the specific area of concentrationwhich has been declared by the student. A list of therequirements for each of the business majors is availablein the College of Business Administration Dean’s office.The other three (or six) credits necessary to completethe 24-credit requirement must be business electives atthe 300/400 level or BSAD 241. Additionally, at leastone business course with international content must beincluded within the 24-credit block of “major courses” anda minimum grade of C must be earned in this course.4. Each business student must complete six credits in courseswith international content. At least three of these mustbe business credits and must be included within the 24credits which apply to the major area of concentration(as detailed in number three above). The additionalthree credits may be utilized to satisfy requirementsin general education or free electives. Courses takento satisfy this requirement are to be selected from theapproved international course list. Students should seetheir advisor or may obtain a copy of this list from theCollege of Business Administration Dean’s Office, 340Still Hall.5. Business students are not permitted to take businesscourses for credit-no record.General Education RequirementsThe general education program required for all studentsin the university is presented on page 59. Students mustsatisfy general education requirements which include flaggedcourses in lower- and upper-division business courses andin the major area. Students are urged to consult with theiradvisor about general education requirements listed earlierin this catalog. Students majoring in business administrationmust include six credits in mathematics (at least MATH131 and MATH 232 or its equivalent); three credits forCIS 217, in fulfilling general education or free electiverequirements; and six credits in economics (ECON 211 and212). To give students an insight into the major functions oforganizations, whether they be private business firms orlocal, state, or federal government agencies.2. To give students an understanding of the major problemswithin organizations as they pursue their goals.3. To assist students in using the insights and methods ofthe humanities, social sciences, and natural sciencesto analyze and illuminate these problems. Each of thefoundation subjects either deals with an important aspectof organization or provides a tool which can be used inattacking problems faced by individuals in organizations.The courses, as a whole, comprise a common body ofknowledge in business and administration.College of BusinessAdministration
