The degree is forindividuals who have extensive personal life experiences inan allied health field or have a number of academic creditsand want an associate degree in allied health. The programmay apply to students who have accumulated at least 30credits through health and/or allied health courses whilemeeting the general education requirements for an associatedegree from <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>. An example of an audiencefor the program would be diploma nursing school studentswho have accumulated many nursing and general educationcredits, and completed their program with a hospital-issueddiploma. (An Associate of Science in Nursing cannot beearned unless the courses in the major are taught by theuniversity issuing the degree.)Sample CurriculumI. Allied Health ............................................... 30 CreditsBachelor of Science inRadiologic Sciences ProgramThe Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences hasan academic preparation of two years (60 semester hoursincluding general education) at <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> andcontinues with a 24-month, 60-semester hours courseof clinical study in an affiliated hospital-based schoolof radiologic technology. All affiliated hospital-basedschools of radiologic technology are accredited by theJoint Review Committee on Education in RadiologicTechnology (JRCERT). Entry into the general educationportion of the program is available to individuals meetinguniversity admission criteria. Upon successful completionof three semesters at <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>, the student iseligible to apply for admission to an affiliated hospitalprogram. Hospital-based clinical education has limitedspace and competitive admission standards. Admission tothe Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Science programat <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> does not guarantee admission to anaffiliated hospital-based program, although we commit toprudent enrollment management to maximize the success ofthe students we accept. At the completion of the second yearof study at <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>, students enter the radiologictechnology program at the affiliated hospital to which theyhave been accepted. Upon successful completion of thiscourse of study, the student is awarded a Bachelor of Sciencein Radiologic Sciences Degree and is eligible to sit for thenational certification examination in radiography sponsoredby the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.Successful completion of this examination entitles thegraduate technologist to use the credentials R.T. (R),Registered Technologist (Radiography) and practice as anentry-level R.T. in most states in the United States.Admission PolicyStudents interested in the Bachelor of Science inRadiologic Sciences Degree will be accepted into theuniversity using the standard criteria for admission.Retention in the program requires the student to maintain acumulative 2.0 QPA and attain a grade of C or higher in allrequired professional courses and all required major courses.Students who apply for admission to an affiliated hospital’stwo-year radiologic technology program must do so in thesecond semester of their sophomore year. Application ismade to a hospital’s radiologic technology program andacceptance is at the discretion of the admission committeeof the hospital program. Students will be accepted by ahospital on the basis of their university records, applicationmaterials, and interviews with hospital program officialsand admissions committee.B.S. in Radiological Sciences CurriculumAlthough the Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciencesis designed to be completed in two academic years at<strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> and two years at an affiliated hospital,part-time study is available during the first two years.
