The health centeris located at the northwest corner of the campus near GivanHall. A highly-credentialed staff, including contractedphysicians, certified registered nurse practitioners, andregistered nurses certified in college health, providespecialized student health services. Operating hours are9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. After hours and emergencyservices are available from a variety of communityproviders.The services of the health center are similar to thoseprovided in a physician’s office. Specific services include:physical examinations, immunizations, allergy injections,medication and prescriptions, pregnancy testing, treatmentof acute and chronic illnesses and injuries, and referral toappropriate community resources. Proper immunizationis highly recommended prior to university entrance.Pennsylvania Senate Bill 955, passed into law on June28, 2002, mandates that all university students living inresidence halls be immunized against meningitis or signan informed declination statement. The American CollegeHealth Association also supports the meningitis vaccine.The health service fee includes an unlimited number ofvisits to the health center. There may be additional chargesfor medications or procedures associated with the visit.Students are strongly encouraged to contact their primaryinsurance carrier to determine the conditions and limitations,if any, on medical treatment away from home.pages i-viiStudent and<strong>University</strong> Affairs
