Goldberg Memorial Scholarship: Established by familyand friends to assist Venango Campus students pursuing a business-relateddegree. Academic talent and financial need are criteria. Preferenceis given to students from the Oil City area.Highmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield Scholarships: Several scholarshipsawarded annually to high ability recent high school graduates andacademically promising returning adult students. Priority given to healthscience majors including radiologic science, nursing, rehabilitative science,and psychology.William Huber Sr. Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship wasestablished by friends of William Huber, a Venango County resident,who was an exceptional guitarist and extremely active in the community.Eligible recipient must be an active community member.Dr. Glenn McElhattan Scholarships: Established to honor Dr.McElhattan, a <strong>Clarion</strong> alumnus and Chemistry Department facultymember at the Venango Campus. Eligible candidates must be high schoolseniors enrolled at the Venango Campus for their freshman year. Awardsare granted based upon academic achievement. First priority to HonorsProgram candidates.In Memory of William J. McFate and Judge William E. Breene,by the trustees of the Dr. & Mrs. Arthur William Phillips CharitableTrust: Mr. McFate and Judge Breene served for many years with distinctionas trustees of the Dr. & Mrs. Arthur William Phillips CharitableTrust and were highly respected in the region for their leadership andintegrity. The purpose of the scholarship is to benefit <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>students entering fields of study in health-related professions, includingstudents enrolled in the School of Nursing & Allied Health at theVenango Campus. Recipients shall have demonstrated financial needand academic merit.Oil City Lions, Lillian (Shaw) Shinkle, and Ted Shaw Scholarship:Established by the Oil City Lions Club in honor of Lillian Shaw Shinkleand Ted Shaw. Eligible candidates must be recent graduates of Oil Cityor Venango Catholic high schools and must be entering their first year ofstudy at the Venango Campus. Scholarship recipients may reapply in theirsecond year of study at either Venango Campus or <strong>Clarion</strong> Campus.Oil City Rotary Club Scholarship: Awarded by Oil City Rotary Clubthrough the <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> Foundation. Recipient must be a residentof Venango County for one year, and is selected on the basis of academicrecord, financial need, and participation in extracurricular activities andcommunity service. First preference to Rotary Club families.Oil City Second Presbyterian Women Scholarships: Severalscholarships are provided annually to the Venango Campus ScholarshipCommittee by this organization. Candidates must be health sciencemajors. Priority is given to Venango County residents with financialneed. The award may be renewed in succeeding years.Pennzoil Scholarship Endowment: Scholarships are made availableby the <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> Foundation through an endowment establishedby Pennzoil. Award criteria are based on academic achievement andfinancial need.John N. and Sarah H. Rees Scholarships: Provided through a generousdonation from the Rees Charitable Foundation. The gift providesscholarships for Venango Campus students in two areas, academicallygifted students and first-time-in-college adults.Regional Vision Leadership Scholarship: Established by RegionalVision Leadership Development for Rural Northwest Pennsylvania toassist Venango Campus students who exhibit leadership qualities in theircommunity or school.Laura A. Smedley Scholarships: Scholarships, not limited innumber and not specified in amount, are granted to Venango Campusstudents who are graduates of secondary schools serving VenangoCounty. Eligible candidates must be full-time students enrolled in anyassociate degree program. Selection is made based upon financial needand academic record. Instructions for the complete application processcan be obtained from Stephen Kosak, Box 374, Oil City, PA 16301.Deadline for submission of application is April 15.UPMC Northwest Women’s Auxiliary Health Career FundScholarships: Awarded by the Venango Campus Scholarship Committeeto Venango, Forest, and <strong>Clarion</strong> County residents attending VenangoCampus for educational purposes in health career fields.Greg Vayda Memorial Scholarship: Established by family andfriends to honor the memory of Greg Vayda, son of long-time chairmanof the <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> Special Education Department Ken Vaydaand Mrs. Vayda.Venango Campus Scholarships: Several scholarships, contributedby Venango Campus employees, available through the Venango CampusScholarship Committee for students attending <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>–Venango Campus.Venango Campus Endowment Scholarships: Endowmentestablished by Venango Campus employees that funds several scholarshipsfor students attending <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s Venango Campus.Frank and Clara Williams Scholarship: These scholarships, notlimited in number and not specified in amount, are granted to VenangoCounty residents. Eligible students must be full-time freshmen orsophomores and be enrolled in a four-year degree program. Selectionis made based upon financial need and academic record. Award recipients must be students who residein Venango County. Coogan Jr. in memory of his late wife, Rosemary Coogan, who hada long and distinguished nursing career. The endowment will provideannual scholarship(s) that will be awarded to a student(s) currently enrolledin <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s School of Nursing & Allied Health, andmajoring in nursing. Candidate must demonstrate academic merit andmust demonstrate financial need via FAFSA.Dr. Julia Donovan Memorial Scholarship: Established by Dr.Donovan’s friends and family in her memory. The purpose is to providefinancial support to students pursuing a career in nursing. Eligible candidatemust be a graduating A.S.N. student who will enter the BSN or RNto MSN program at <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Candidates must demonstratestrong academic ability and financial need.Elizabeth M. McCord Scholarship: Established by the McCordfamily in honor of Mrs. McCord and her service to the university’s HealthCenter. First preference is given to full-time graduate students in theM.S.N. family nurse practitioner program. Second preference is givento students with six or more graduate credits each semester. Thereafter,consideration will be given to bachelor’s degree students and finallyassociate degree candidates within the Department of Nursing.Nursing Department Scholarship Endowment: To be considered, astudent must be a registered nurse working toward a BSN, have a Baverage in nursing courses, 3.0 minimum overall QPA, have financialneed and be a full-time <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> student.
