There are three main types ofaccountants: management accountants, who handle recordsof the companies they work for; public accountants, whowork for or own independent accounting firms; and not-forprofitaccountants, who work for governmental agencies andsome health care organizations. Full or part-time internshipsare available to qualified students. The department offers agraduate-level professional accountancy course of studywithin the M.B.A. program. May not be used to satisfy core ormajor requirements for degrees in business administration. Students who have passed ACTG 251 may not schedule this course. Noprerequisite. Each semester.ACTG 251: Financial Accounting 3 s.h.Examines the principles and procedures for collecting, recording, summarizing, and reporting financial information.
