<strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> of Pennsylvania 85EconomicsEconomics is the social science that studies humanmaterial needs, and how to maximize well-being withavailable resources. Household, government and businessdecisions are studied, as are trade and specialization amongindividuals and nations .<strong>Clarion</strong>’s Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Economics providesa traditional liberal arts education by combining economicscourses with courses in other social sciences, such as historyand political science. Students find this program suitablefor postgraduate work in law, business and economics, orfor beginning a career immediately after graduation. Manypositions are open to economics graduates. A minor ineconomics is also offered, which complements many Artsand Science majors.The Economics Department at <strong>Clarion</strong> has an exceptionallyhigh Ph.D. coverage, and its low student-faculty ratio formajors promotes high-quality instruction and personalattention. Internships tailored to students’ personal interestscan be arranged with business, government and nonprofitinstitutions.
