After earning the associate degree,students who wish to further their education may continueat the baccalaureate level on the <strong>Clarion</strong> Campus.Objectives1. Ensure that each student has an exposure to generaleducation and business fundamentals appropriatefor associate-level degree education in businessadministration.2. Prepare associate degree students for entry-levelpositions in business, industry, and government.Graduates may find jobs in sales, marketing,finance, or administrative areas of business.3. Prepare aspiring students for entry into baccalaureatedegree programs.General Education (minimal requirement–20 credits): ENG111, CMST 113, HPE 111, PSY 211 or SOC 211, and ninecredits of general education electives. Note: if ENG 110 isrequired as a result of the placement examination, it will beused as three credits of the general education electives.Business Core Subjects (27 credits): MATH 131, ECON 211,CIS 217, MGMT 120, ACTG 251, ACTG 252, BSAD 240,ENG 307, and ECON 221.General Business Management Concentration (15 credits):BSAD 241, FIN 170, MGMT 121, MGMT 227, and a threecreditbusiness elective.Associate of Science:Legal Business StudiesThe Associate of Science in Legal Business Studiesoffers a program designed to educate students to renderdirect assistance to lawyers, clients, and courts, whether ina law office, governmental institution, or as an independentcontractor, when authorized to do so by administrative,statutory, or court authority. All of the courses required forthis degree are offered at Venango Campus. Some of thecourses also are offered at <strong>Clarion</strong> Campus.Academic RequirementThe program is divided into three blocks of requiredcourses. The general education and business core classes arerequired of all Associate of Science candidates to developtheir ability to work and live as well-rounded and competentindividuals in the business environment. The remainingcourses are specialized legal courses designed to developcompetence in substantive and procedural law.General Education (minimal requirement—23 credits): ENG111, CMST 113, HPE 111, PSY 211, ECON 211, MATH 131,ENG 307, and a three-credit general education elective. Note:The general education electives must be selected from anapproved list of general education courses. This list is availablefrom the director of Legal Business Studies and can be viewedon the program’s Website at http://www.clarion.edu/coba/finance/aa-legal.htm.Business Core (21 credits): ACTG 251, 252; BSAD 240, 241;CIS 217; ECON 221, and MGMT 120.Legal Assistant Concentration (21 credits): BSAD 238, 242,246, 248, 249; and one of the following courses: BSAD 239,243, 244, 247.Free Elective (3 credits): Students should use their free electiveto tailor the Legal Business Studies degree to their individualcareer preference. The choice may be a law specialty coursenot counted in the concentration, political science, philosophy,or any other general education course of interest.Associate of Science:Rehabilitative ServicesThe Associate of Science in Rehabilitative Services trainspeople to work in paraprofessional roles with people withspecial needs in human service agencies. They include, butare not limited to, the roles of life skills worker, life coach,classroom assistant, and human development assistant.Because these roles vary, the program offers both specializedand generic competencies. The two-year program culminateswith a supervised field experience in a human serviceagency.
