Students should select theirgeneral education courses carefully in consultation withtheir faculty advisors.<strong>Undergraduate</strong> Education<strong>Undergraduate</strong> education at <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong> beginswith course offerings and expands with co-curricularactivities, student living arrangements, special culturalevents in the university and the larger community, andopportunities for relevant work through participation inassistantships, internships, undergraduate research, andstudent and community organizations.The university’s curriculum enables students to acquireskills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to attain thegoals students set for life. The university believes studentsshould graduate with a distinguished level of abilitiesand with attitudes necessary to continue developing andrefining those abilities. Thus graduates of <strong>Clarion</strong> <strong>University</strong>should:1. be able to read and listen, speak and write with adegree of sophistication;2. be able to think critically and analytically;3. possess a broad awareness of human heritage;4. possess a significant sense of the influence of globalaffairs on personal and national life;5. comprehend an academic discipline;6. formulate, examine, and be guided by consciouspersonal and social values;7. be able to recognize and exercise wise choices inlife;8. possess the skills and attitudes necessary to continueto learn throughout life; and9. be able to participate effectively and usefully insociety.These nine goals for undergraduate education atthe university are applicable to the lives of all studentsregardless of major.
