Clarion University of Pennsylvania 43University with a minimum SAT total score of 1000 (critical reasoningand mathematics component) and show financial need via the FAFSA.First priority shall be given to a child of a member in good standing ofthe Clarion County Rod & Gun Club. The preference of the club is toaward the scholarship to someone who is majoring in environmentalscience and/or who demonstrates interest in the natural heritage ofnorthwest Pennsylvania through extracurricular activities.Clarion University Federal Credit Union (CUFCU) Scholarship:As part of its dedication to serving and supporting membership, CUFCUmakes available two scholarships each academic year, pending availablefunds. Scholarship applicants must be a member of the CUFCU and meetthe following criteria: completion of 60 credit hours, a minimum of 3.0GPA, and a record of service activities. One scholarship is available to acurrent Clarion University student. Application is in April. Dependentsof CUFCU board members and CUFCU employees are ineligible. Applicationsand additional information is available in the CUFCU officelocated in 152 Gemmell.Class of 1943 Scholarship Endowment: This award was establishedin 2005 by the Class of 1943. As an integral part of Clarion’s rich traditionof excellence, members desire that this will be an annual scholarshipawarded to an incoming Clarion University student. The scholarshipperpetuates the long-term commitment of the class members to theiralma mater and present-day students. To be eligible for consideration,student must have a SAT total score of at least a 1000 (critical reasoningand mathematics component) or ACT composite score of 22, a gradepoint average of 3.2 or better on a 4.0 scale, and financial need verifiedby FAFSA. No scholarship application is required; students reviewedfor award upon receipt of admissions materials and FAFSA.Mary & Martha Colegrove Educational Fund Scholarship: Awardmade to women from McKean County. The recipients can continue toreceive the awards during subsequent years if students maintain a cumulative3.0 QPA at Clarion University. Students’ records are reviewedfor this award via their admissions materials. No scholarship applicationis required. Award made by February 1.Commodore Corporation/Richard Boyle Scholarship:Established by the Commodore Corporation in memory of former manager,Richard Boyle. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide supportfor dependent children of employees of the Commodore Corporationplant and the Colony Factory Crafted Homes plant in Clarion County.Selection is based upon demonstrated financial need, a written statementof application, and letters of recommendation. Croyle Scholarships: An endowment fund was establishedby the estate of Miss Mary Croyle to provide scholarships foreligible undergraduate students residing in eastern Redbank Township,Clarion County, Pa. Students from western Redbank Township will beconsidered secondarily. Selection is based upon financial need (FAFSA)and academic achievement. Application deadline date is April 1.DiTommaso Family Scholarship Endowment: This scholarship wasestablished by John DiTommaso, Clarion University Class of 1978, inhonor of his parents, Angelo and Dorothy DiTommaso. The award willbe offered to an incoming freshman graduating from either Hempfield(Greensburg), Penn-Trafford, Norwin, Jeannette, or Greensburg CentralCatholic High School. To be considered, eligible candidates must havea minimum SAT total score of 1100 (critical reasoning and mathematicscomponent) or ACT composite of 24 or better. Students also need tobe in the upper two fifths of senior class. All applicants for admissionwho meet the specific criteria will automatically be considered for thisscholarship award. The DiTommasos have had tremendous communitysupport for many years and felt this was one way to acknowledge theirappreciation.The W.E.B. Dubois Scholarship: Established by Clarion UniversityMinority Alumni to support and assist with the retention of strongstudents. To be eligible for consideration, student must demonstrate evidenceof need by a current FAFSA form on file and be a second semesterfreshman or above with at least 12 credits earned with a cumulativeGPA of 3.0 or higher. An essay is required and the contact person forapplication is Rogers Laugand, Director of Minority Student Servicesat 814-393-2043. Deadline date is first Friday in April.Edith Davis Eve Scholarships: The Fund for the Advancement ofthe State System of Higher Education provides one-time scholarships toincoming students from Blair County. Scholarships available to State Systemuniversities each year on a rotating basis as determined by the Officeof the Chancellor. These awards are based upon academic achievementand financial need. Need to file FAFSA. Student records are reviewedfor this award via their admission materials; no scholarship applicationis required. Awards usually offered prior to April 1, when available.Educational Opportunities Program/ACT 101 Scholarship: Thesescholarships will be awarded each spring. Any freshman, sophomore orjunior who demonstrates academic achievement, leadership qualities,and commitment to the Educational Opportunities Program/ACT 101may apply. Candidates must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0. Allawards offered prior to March 1.Foundation Non-Instructional Staff Scholarship: Annually thefoundation makes available six $500 scholarships to be awarded touniversity staff members and their dependents.Lois Borland Fulmer Endowed Scholarship: This scholarshipfund established by the family and friends of Mrs. Fulmer to honor herdedication to teaching. The awards will be made to an entering or continuingadult student (full-time or part-time) of any major. Incoming students are reviewed for thisscholarship upon receipt of their admission materials; no scholarshipapplication is required. All awards offered prior to March 1.Helen Gendler Memorial Scholarship: This award established byDr. and Mrs. Stephen Gendler in memory of Helen Gendler. Funds providean annual scholarship to a student with a disability who is registeredwith Special Services. Hardwick Scholarship: This fund was created to honor Dr.Mary Hardwick, retired Speech Communication and Theatre professor,and her career as a gifted artist and dedicated educator. Selection is basedupon a required essay, financial need, and overall academic standing.Student’s essay of no more than two pages, double spaces, needs to focuson describing how he/she has come to learn that a relationship with anindividual who possesses the values of nurturance, compassion, collaboration,and respect for all living things can make a difference in thelife of another. Hart Scholarships: These multi-year scholarships, presentedin honor of the former admissions director, are awarded to thestrongest incoming freshmen. Past recipients were in the top five percentof their graduating class, with SAT total scores in excess of 1300 (criticalreasoning and math components), and with outstanding accomplishmentsand significant contributions through involvement in extracurricular activities.Students must meet required academic standards to receive the awardin subsequent years.
