100Monika Domanska, Cracow University of Technology, PolandFollowing graduation with an MSc Eng in Electronics, Monika Domanska worked for over ten yearsin a scientific institute, consulting companies in projects related to technology transfer, economicanalysis, and management training. She then became engaged in student and unemployedyouth job counselling, first within an NGO (Progress and Business Foundation - Education AdvisingCentre) and since 1997 has been Head of Career Office at Cracow University of Technology.Monika deals with counselling and training for students and graduates of the university onall matters related to the job market and the soft skills necessary to find employment (presentation,self-presentation, recruitment, employers’ requirements, etc). She delivers trainings forjob counsellors of newly emerging career offices in Poland and is involved in polling researchon career issues among students. Her duties include supervision of the work of the office (4employees; operating budget 100,000 USD), the organisation of annual conferences of CareerServices Network and of the Engineering Job Fairs, as well as establishing close relations withbusiness representatives seeking employees.Brian Staines, University of Bristol, United KingdomBrian Staines graduated from University College Cardiff in 1974 with a combined Economics/EconomicHistory degree. Following this period, he led a three-year research project on labour mobilityin the South Wales area. During this time he also worked as a lecturer/tutor and a specialistlabour market economist.Brian became a careers adviser in 1981, studying for the Diploma in Careers Guidance. Heworked for the Careers Service of Hampshire County Council, followed by posts as UnemployedSpecialist Careers Adviser and Area Careers Officer in the West of Scotland. Brian commencedwork at Bristol University as careers adviser in July 1991 and has since been made Head of Guidanceat the University of Bristol Careers Department. His specific responsibilities include managinga team of 7 careers advisers and 7 administrative support staff. He is part of the managementteam in the Careers Service and is instrumental in devising and ensuring the delivery of thecareers education programme, including all aspects of careers guidance.His particular interests include working with the unemployed and delivering training coursesto enhance their employability. He has worked, in addition to Croatia, also in Romania, Bulgariaand Namibia.Ninoslav Šćukanec, <strong>Institut</strong>e for the Development of Education, CroatiaFrom 1999 to 2005, Ninoslav Šćukanec worked as the Executive Director of Student In<strong>format</strong>ionCentre in Zagreb, and since 2005 he has been the President of the <strong>Institut</strong>e for the Developmentof Education in Zagreb. He specialises in international education and the influence of globalisationon higher education. In this sense, he has participated in prestigious professional developmentprograms in the USA, organised by the US State Department and NAFSA (NAFSA-Associationof International Educators). Through participation in various professional development programsfinanced by the European Commission (through the programmes TEMPUS and European Initiativefor Democracy and Human Rights), Šćukanec has gained extensive experience related to shapinghigher education policies in Europe, and experience related to functioning of European highereducation institutions.
