According to the results, 31.8% of students in Croatia are satisfied with information providedat university about job offerings after graduation, and 3.7% are very satisfied. 52.6% of studentsare mostly or completely unsatisfied. The fact that 35.5% of students are satisfied or very satisfied is a somewhat surprising resultsince, based on the apparently limited information currently available to students on careers andemployment, the assumption was that students do not have access to such information at university. An important point to determine in order to draw any conclusions about this issue will be toanalyse their sources of information at university, which is presented in Part B of this report.Another important finding is the fact that the University of Zagreb and the University of Osijekhave a higher percentage of students who are satisfied with information provided on job offeringsat university compared to the other four universities. Osijek has 40% satisfied and verysatisfied students, Zagreb 45% satisfied and very satisfied students, while universities of Split,Rijeka, Zadar and Dubrovnik have between 20% and 30% of satisfied and very satisfied students.Regarding the situation in Zagreb, it might be assumed that students have an increased access toinformation simply due to the fact that Zagreb has the largest job market for persons with a highereducation degree. As for Osijek, since it is not characterised by a strong and growing labour market, the potential explanation for more satisfied students could be in the quality of institutions,or - more precisely - in existing offices at the University. This assumption will be further investigatedin Part B of the report, where sources of information for students are investigated. An important aspect of students’ knowledge about the labour market is the awareness of whatprofiles and professions are in demand. Here the results for the Croatian student population showthat just over half of the students -56.4%- are mostly or completely unsatisfied with the situation.39TABLE 2: Students’ satisfaction with information provided at university about labour market needs for specific worker profiles45 %40 %35 %30 %25 %20 %15 %10 %5 %0 %Zadar Dubrovnik Osijek Rijeka Split Zagreb TOTALunsatisfied mostly unsatisfied satisfied very satisfiedX 2 =45.586/df=15/p=0.000Student needs for career advising services in Croatian universities: Research results & report
