74CAS managementAs far as the CAS management and scope of services is concerned, the CAS is to be organised as acentralised unit at the beginning, and decentralised later by working within specific faculties andhaving different services adapted to different schools/faculties.The CAS location in the administrative structure of the University should be as a new andseparate unit within the central administration of the University of Split.Regarding human resources, the employment of at least one new employee would be necessary. The new employee could start working on a project for establishing a CAS by the endof 2006, however, the possibility of employing a new person is uncertain. At a later stage, thenumber of staff of the career advising services at the University could be increased to two employees(which is the maximum number of staff before the proposed decentralisation of CAS toother faculties). The physical location could be in a central university building (Rector’s office), which waschosen as the best “strategic” space in the case that its services would deal with academic staffas well. However, if the service were to deal exclusively with students, then the best locationcould be the Student Centre.Regarding the financing of a CAS, the funding of such a project could potentially be ensuredby the following institutions: the University, the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports, localgovernment, etc. However, these are only options and have not yet been decided.Overall, this model of a CAS was chosen because the University of Split must be functionallyintegrated, even it is currently not as integrated as it should be.Other commentsIt should be noted that the University of Split has begun considering the introduction of careeradvising services within the university.5.6.
