Background in<strong>format</strong>ionAbout the city and county: The city of Dubrovnik is the focal point of the Dubrovnik-NeretvaCounty, which is the southernmost county in the Republic of Croatia. The county covers an area of1,785 km2 and has around 127,000 residents. The economy is primarily based on the tourist andtourist-related industry. The current unemployment rate in the county is approximately 20.5%and the average net income is 3,684 Kunas per month.Dubrovnik was founded in the 7th century (although the latest archaeological research indicatesan even earlier period). It was the only City-state on the entire Croatian coast from the 14thto the 19th century. Seafaring and trade, together with wise international policy and skilful diplomacy,brought economic and cultural prosperity as well as centuries of economic prosperity.About the university: The University of Dubrovnik was established in 2003 by an Act of theCroatian Parliament. The University was the result of merging existing higher education institutionsin Dubrovnik: the Maritime Faculty of Dubrovnik and Polytechnic of Dubrovnik (which hada forty-year experience of higher education for seafarers), as well as the Faculty for Tourism andForeign trade (which had more than thirty years experience of higher education for tourism andforeign trade).All programs at the University of Dubrovnik are compatible with the requirements of the BolognaProcess. All study programs follow the 3+2+3 scheme, which provides the guarantee of ECTSand the mobility of students and teaching staff. Its quality of procedures is monitored by theimplementation and improvement of a quality control system (HRN EN ISO 9001:2002).The prime goal of the University of Dubrovnik is the further development of international co-Models of career advising services in Croatian universities
