60In the course of the seminar, Croatian university representatives carried out two main activities:drafting a SWOT analysis of the launch of career advising services in Croatia (whose resultsare available as Appendix I of this handbook); and drafting models of career advising servicesadapted to the needs and resources of each Croatian university (whose results are presented inthe following chapter).During the model-drafting workshop, university representatives were assisted by membersof the Expert Team and were provided with forms presenting sets of options for the operationsand management of career advising services - the options offered on the form are listed overleaf.By selecting specific options, each university created a model of career advising services thatwas adapted to the perceived needs of its student body, as well as to the current capacity of theuniversity, particularly in terms of human resources and finances.It is important to stress that these models of career advising services are only proposals:they are not “binding” for each university and they would all need to be further discussed and revisedbefore commencing the process of their establishment. However, the significance of thesemodels is that they do constitute a concrete reference material, or “platform”, for those who willundertake the launching of career advising services at each university. What is most significantin this respect is that several Croatian university representatives expressed their interest (andcommitment) to launch such services at their universities in the near future.***Note: In the seminar, the term “career advising services” was shortened to the acronym “CAS”for purposes of simplification. The descriptions of each model in this chapter will therefore referto career advising services as “CAS”.Career advising services optionsUniversity representatives were requested to first look at all the possible options for career advisingservices operations and management (from the following list) and then select the optionsbest suited to their university, thus creating a precise model of career advising services.I.
