plan their future. In this way, a university both enhances the quality of the student experienceand plays a greater role in fostering the overall development and future of its students. On theother hand, career advising services contribute to creating closer links between the universityand the job market. In the long term, and on the level of Croatia as a whole, the existence of suchstudent services could also contribute to addressing the problematic issues of Croatia’s percentageof higher educated citizenry, student employability and cooperation between university andits wider environment.131.2. Description of the project “CAREER: Platform for career advicecentres in Croatia”The aim of the project “CAREER: Platform for Career Advice Centres in Croatia” is not the establishmentof career advising services themselves. The scope of the project is limited to makingpreliminary preparations for planning the launch of such services in Croatia, in other words,creating the “platform” for launching career advising services. Therefore, the main aim of theproject is to propose models of career advising services for each Croatian university.When planning the drafting of models of career advising services in Croatia, an importantfactor that this project takes into consideration is that such services must be adapted to each individualuniversity. That is, the possibility of using a single career advising services model for all thesix Croatian universities is ruled out by the significant existing differences between these institutions,both on an external and internal level. On an external level, geographical differences andlocal socio-economic conditions would strongly influence the nature of in<strong>format</strong>ion and advisingprovided and thus the structure and content of career advising services. On an internal level, allsix Croatian universities differ in terms of their resources, finances, educational programmes andstudent population. Since all these factors would influence the conceptualisation and structure ofcareer advising services at each institution, the establishment of such services cannot be undertakenwithout prior research of the above-mentioned features of the universities.The main objectives of the CAREER project are therefore the following:1.2.To carry out a needs analysis of the introduction of career advising services into Croatianuniversities by surveying the needs of students at all Croatian universities.To create models of career advising services corresponding to the specific needs of each university,based on the results of the survey.Following the drafting of the models, the third objective of the project is to publish and distributea project <strong>handbook</strong> (i.e. this publication), containing survey results, proposed modelsof career advising services in Croatian universities, as well as recommendations for launchingcareer advising services in Croatia.CAREER: Creating a platform for launching career advising services in Croatian universities
