d. Summary of board actions.4–7. Monthly promotionsa. HRC–Alex<strong>and</strong>ria (HRC–St. Louis for USAR) will determine <strong>and</strong> announce the total number of promotions toSFC, MSG, <strong>and</strong> SGM on a monthly basis. The DOR <strong>and</strong> effective date of promotion will be the same. For <strong>Soldier</strong>spromoted late use procedures in Chapter 1 of this regulation. Promotion is not valid <strong>and</strong> will be revoked if a <strong>Soldier</strong> isnot in a promotable status on the effective date. CDRs will advise HRC–Alex<strong>and</strong>ria (AHRC–MSP–E) (HRC–St. Louis(AHRC–MSL–E) for USAR) when a <strong>Soldier</strong> is in a nonpromotable status.b. HRC–Alex<strong>and</strong>ria (HRC–St. Louis for USAR) will publish orders announcing promotions to SFC, MSG, <strong>and</strong>SGM.4–8. Service requirementa. <strong>Soldier</strong>s promoted to grades SFC, MSG, <strong>and</strong> SGM will incur a 2-year service requirement. Service requirementwill be from the effective date of promotion, unless <strong>Soldier</strong>s are in one of the following categories:(1) Eligible for retirement based on RCP for the recommended grade.(2) Already eligible through prior service for a higher grade at time of retirement.(3) Age 62 or older (age 60 or older for USAR).b. Service requirement will begin on the effective date of promotion. <strong>Soldier</strong>s not having sufficient time remainingmust reenlist or decline promotion in accordance with paragraph 1–24 of this regulation.c. <strong>Soldier</strong>s selected for promotion will be promoted on the last day of the month before being placed on the retiredlist if their sequence number has not been reached <strong>and</strong> they are in one of the following categories:(1) Will complete 30 years of active Federal service.(2) Will have reached age 62 (60 for USAR).(3) Will reach the promotable RCP while on a promotion list.d. CDRs will advise HRC–Alex<strong>and</strong>ria, (AHRC–MSP–E) (HRC–St. Louis (AHRC–MSL–E) for USAR) of these<strong>Soldier</strong>s in time to allow for preparation of promotion orders before the <strong>Soldier</strong> retires.e. A promoted <strong>Soldier</strong> may not, at his or her own request, be reduced to terminate the required service requirement.Section IITask: Preboard Processing for Noncommissioned Officers in Zone of Consideration4–9. Rulesa. <strong>Soldier</strong> must meet announced eligibility requirements for promotion board consideration.b. <strong>Soldier</strong> will review <strong>and</strong> authenticate his or her <strong>Enlisted</strong> Records Brief (ERB) information in accordance withprocedures outlined in board announcement messages.c.
