"While hunting with some of my comrades in the forest, I once saw Chief Saturibaand his queen taking an evening walk. He was clad in a deerskin so exquisitelyprepared and painted with so many colors that I have never seen anythingmore lovely. Two young men walked by his side carrying fans, while a third one, with little gold and silver balls hanging at his belt, followed close behind himholding up his train. The queen and her maidens were adorned with belts worneither at the shoulder or at the waist, made of a kind of moss that grows on thetrees. This moss is woven into slender threads of a bluish-green color and is sodelicate in texture as to be mistaken for filaments of silk."
