When to Import Events■Submits the events to the CA Enterprise Log Manager through the SAPIEvent Sponsor or the iTech Event Sponsor for insertion into the event logstoreThe events are mapped to the common event grammar (CEG) that forms thebasis for the event log store's database tables. You can then use the predefinedqueries and reports to gather information from your stored events.Importing from a Live SEOSDATA TableRunning the LMSeosImport utility against a live SEOSDATA table is notrecommended, but at times may be unavoidable. If you must run the utilityagainst a live database, the utility imports only a certain section of data. Thishappens because events that are added to the database after the LMSeosImportutility starts are not imported during that import session. For example, if you do not specify the -minid and -maxid parameters in thecommand line, when the utility starts, it queries the database for the minimumand maximum existing entry IDs. The utility then bases its queries and importactivities on those values. Events inserted into the database after the utilitystarts have entry IDs outside that range and so are not imported. When an import session completes, the utility displays the last entry ID that itprocessed. You may need to run more than one import session to get all of yourevents, or you may choose to wait for a period of lower network and eventactivity to run the import utility. You can run additional import sessions, ifneeded, using the last session's ending entry ID as the new session's -minidvalue.180 Implementation Guide
