Subscription Update PlanningVerify Access to RSS Feed for SubscriptionWhen you begin to configure global subscription settings, verify that your defaultsubscription proxy server can access the predefined RSS feed URL. If theavailable modules to download list is populated, that indicates successful access. If the available modules to download area is not populated and your server isbehind a firewall, be sure to configure the HTTP proxy settings, so that onlineproxies can contact the RSS feed.Assess the Need for an Offline Subscription ProxyBefore you configure subscription, determine whether you need to designateoffline subscription proxies. The need for offline subscription proxies occurs whenthe CA Enterprise Log Manager servers you configured as subscription clientshave no access to any online subscription proxy because of policies that disallowthese servers to access any server with Internet access. Your policies may evenbe such that no CA Enterprise Log Manager server can be an online subscriptionproxy. In both cases, you need an offline subscription proxy. The differencebetween these scenarios is how the subscription update is retrieved from the CASubscription server; in one case, updates are retrieved on a scheduled basis byan online proxy; in the other case, updates are retrieved manually by anindividual on a remote server.More information:Configure an Offline Subscription Proxy (see page 137)46 Implementation Guide
