Subscription Update PlanningDisk Space PlanningIt is a good practice to check disk space frequently so you can maintain adequatespace for the downloading of subscription updates. If the used disk space on a CAEnterprise Log Manager configured as a subscription client exceeds 90% whenthe subscription engine attempts to update, the subscription service issues aself-monitoring event and suspends the download process. You can schedule an action alert based on the query, Low Available Disk Space.Note: For an example, see the CA Enterprise Log Manager Administration Guidesection on Action Alerts.Assess the Need for HTTP ProxyBefore you configure global subscription settings, determine whether you willdownload subscription updates to your internal network through an HTTP proxyserver. Many enterprises require outbound Internet connections to be madethrough an HTTP proxy server. You can specify credentials for the HTTP proxyserver as part of subscription configuration. This lets the subscription proxybypass the HTTP proxy when attempting to check for updates from the CASubscription server. With the automatic bypass, no one has to be present duringthe subscription update process. If you use an HTTP proxy, have the IP address, port number, and credentialsavailable when starting this configuration.Chapter 2: Planning Your Environment 45
