red by solar energy could not be realised, we have at
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Company Consar,
in particular to Mr Stefano Ramella, Mr Boateng and all
their staff. Their commitment to this project went
beyond expectations and their willingness to work together
with us on many small details has contributed
greatly to the centre we have today. The way the centre
has been put together leaves the way open for future
development and expansion.
Over the past few years the distinctive KCCR logo has
become very familiar in Ghana especially on campus
and in Germany. This was designed by Ata Kwami, senior
lecturer at the College of Art and he has continued
his collaboration with the KCCR in ways that you can
see today. His design for the staircase and balustrade
was brought into reality by Mr Boakye, former Director
of TCC, whose hard work we really appreciate. Ata also
organized together with his wife, Pamela Clarkson
Kwami, the exhibition of art involving students from the
College of Art here at KNUST, which you can see in all
of the buildings here on site.
I want to personally thank Professor Frank Kwami,
Ghana Daily Graphic
178
Chairman of the Board of KCCR, for his support and
readiness to listen and help out. I also look to my friends
and colleagues in Hamburg in particular to Professors
Fleischer and Horstmann. Thanks to the internet,
we could send sketches back and forth and they were
able to play an active part in discussions on ideas and
the development of the building. I want to thank them
and other colleagues who came here to set up and to
participate in projects for their support and constructive
advice.
Last but not least, I want to thank every single member
of KCCR staff for their extraordinary hard work in making
this move possible while enabling projects to continue.
What I have demanded from them and what they
have achieved during the past few months and particularly
in the last few weeks has only been possible due
to the tremendous team spirit that has been built up
here over the past few years.
We stand here now starting a new chapter but it is clear
to me that firm and stable roots have been laid down already
and we are ready to continue.
Thank you very much.
