CHAPTER 2 • EXTENDED CHARM TREESPrerequisite Charms: Unspoken WordsExtraction, Intention-Gleaning StyleWith this Charm, no element of a quarry’sthoughts are hidden from the Solar. The charactermust be able to speak freely to the target, whomust be conscious and able to respond; the Exaltmust then interrogate him for a scene. At the endof that time, the Exalt learns any information shewishes to know about the interogatee’s mentalstate — what he remembers, what he wants, hisreasoning for his actions and so on. The personbeing interrogated will have no direct knowledgethat the Exalt acquired this information from themthrough magic.This Charm has no effect on targets whosePermanent Essence is greater than the character’s.LOREPHILOSOPHYThe Lore ability serves two purposes: it representsboth the collection of obscure, intellectual knowledgeabout numerous fields, and the direct manipulationof Essence. (This is not the same as Occult, whichdeals with specific applications of magic.) TheSolar Lore Charms presented in the corebook focuson the latter category, falling into two trees: onedealing with the Wyld, and the other allowing thetransference and manipulation of Essence. Each ofthese is fairly specialized in its application, but bothtrees have room for expansion at higher levels.101However, currently the first aspect of Lore isunder-represented in Solar Charms.
