Iffor some reason this would not be possible — forexample, attempting to summon a tyrant lizardfamiliar within a tightly confined cave — the Charmhas no effect.Alternately, the character may activate this Charmwhile standing in a place he considers “home,” withhis familiar by his side. As long as he keeps themotes committed, he may call his familiar to him,or return him home, as a non-rolled dice action.85

An Exaltwho knows this Charm can reflexively transferlevels of damage from herself onto her familiar— or do the reverse, accepting the injuries of hercompanion. However, this connection bears itsown risks — whenever the character’s familiar isrendered unconscious, she suffers automatic levelsof bashing damage equal to twice her rating in theFamiliar background, which can be soaked onlywith Stamina; if the familiar is killed, the charactersuffers an identical number of levels of lethaldamage.SHELTER-LOCATING METHODCost: 4 motesDuration: SpecialType: SimpleMinimum Survival: 4Minimum Essence: 2Prerequisite Charms: Hardship-SurvivingMendicant SpiritIn even the bleakest wilderness, a Solar neednot fear for her ability to locate proper shelterfor the night. Using this Charm, the characteris guaranteed to find enough shelter to protectherself and a number of companions equal to herPermanent Essence. The time this will take variesbased on the terrain; it will take anywhere from 5minutes (for a wooded area with numerous rockyoutcroppings and trees) to 2 hours (for a flat, barrentundra.) However, the Solar is guaranteed to eitherfind a prepared shelter, or the materials necessary toconstruct one. The resulting shelter will protect itsinhabitants entirely from precipitation, wind, andother environmental hazards, as well as steeringaway natural predators.WEATHER-IGNORING STANCECost: 3 motes, 1 WillpowerDuration: One hourType: SimpleMinimum Survival: 5Minimum Essence: 3Prerequisite Charms: Storm WardenConcentrationWith this Charm, the character’s resistanceto inclement weather is extended beyondinconvenience, letting the Exalt resist even the mostdeadly climatic events. While this Charm is in effect,even the most powerful winds have no effect on thecharacter’s person — he can stand in the middle of ahurricane as if there were no wind at all. In addition,he is entirely protected from damage resulting fromweather patterns — tremendous hailstones willbounce off the character. This protection extendsto other occurences which closely resemble weather— meteor showers or ashen rain from a volcanoeruption, for example.MISLEADING PATH PRANACost: 7 motes, 1 WillpowerDuration: One dayType: SimpleMinimum Survival: 5Minimum Essence: 4Prerequisite Charms: Traceless PassageUsing this technique, a Solar can not only hideher movement from those seeking to follow her,but actually lead followers astray with inaccuratemarkings. While this Charm is active, the Solar maychoose what sort of markings appear as her grouppasses, making them appear to indicate any sizeand composition of group which she chooses. Inaddition, the character may choose to create a fakepath which branches off from her real direction ata certain point, leaving the real path invisible. Any86
