ID 381 Internship<br />

The student develops a set <strong>of</strong> learning objectives and keeps a<br />
journal <strong>of</strong> work activities based on experiences at an<br />
internship site. An oral presentation, summarizing the<br />
internship experience, including examples <strong>of</strong> projects and<br />
learning outcomes, is required. (Offered spring and summer<br />
term) Prerequisite: Student must have at least Junior<br />
standing, and must have completed a minimum <strong>of</strong> one fulltime<br />
semester at Cazenovia College<br />
ID 425 Retail and Exhibition Design<br />
3 credits (CS)<br />
This course emphasizes the design <strong>of</strong> retail and exhibition<br />
spaces. Students are exposed to functional aesthetics and to<br />
retail programming procedures. The projects emphasize<br />
creative problem-solving and may include theatrical, retail,<br />
furniture, and exhibition/trade show design. (Offered fall<br />
term) Prerequisites: ID 324 Hospitality Design and ID 372<br />
Computer Modeling.<br />
ID 460 Interior Design Portfolio<br />
3 credits (CS)<br />
Students choose design projects and computer drawings<br />
created during their four years <strong>of</strong> study to prepare them for<br />
their career-related portfolio. Students and faculty critique the<br />
work for pr<strong>of</strong>essional standards necessary for job interviews.<br />
Students prepare resumes and cover letters. Guest speakers<br />
provide networking opportunities and critiques students at<br />
final portfolio presentation. (Offered spring term)<br />
Prerequisite: Student must have Senior standing.<br />
ID 465 Lighting II<br />
3 credits (CS)<br />
This course is an in-depth survey <strong>of</strong> lighting equipment and<br />
design application, with an emphasis on energy conservation.<br />
Other issues addressed include: the control <strong>of</strong> light,<br />
calculations (day lighting, point-by-point, zonal cavity, visual<br />
comfort probability), luminaires, electric control, theatrical<br />
and computerized dimming systems, architectural design,<br />
computer-aided modeling, associated phenomena, layouts and<br />
design reports. (Offered fall term) Prerequisites: ID 365<br />
Lighting I or theatrical students with permission <strong>of</strong> instructor<br />
ID 498 Senior Topics<br />
3 credits (CS)<br />
Students undertake advanced written work focusing on<br />
current interior design theory or trends. Students choose<br />
individual topics, engage in evidence-based inquiry, and<br />
develop a thesis-based research paper. This research lays the<br />
groundwork for design project development in ID 499 Senior<br />
Project. (Offered fall term.) Note: ID 498 must be taken prior<br />
to ID 499 Prerequisite: EN 201 Academic Writing II<br />
ID 499 Senior Project Studio<br />
3 credits (CS)<br />
Students complete a major design project to implement<br />
research developed in ID 498. Taken as a whole, the project<br />
is intended to demonstrate students’ overall grasp <strong>of</strong> general<br />
education and interior design program content and<br />
capabilities. Students create and deliver a PowerPoint<br />
presentation on their topic/project to a guest panel. (Offered<br />
spring term) Prerequisite: ID 498 Senior Topics<br />

IM 120 Introduction to Computers<br />
3 credits (CS)<br />
This course is a comprehensive overview <strong>of</strong> the field<br />
including a survey <strong>of</strong> topics in data processing, an<br />
introduction to the applications <strong>of</strong> computers in business,<br />
and the impact <strong>of</strong> computers on all aspects <strong>of</strong> society. In<br />
addition to acquainting the students with computer hardware<br />
and computer systems, the course requires pr<strong>of</strong>iciency with a<br />
variety <strong>of</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware packages in the microcomputer lab. The<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tware packages include word processing, databases, and<br />
spreadsheets. (Offered fall and spring terms)<br />
IM 121 Micros<strong>of</strong>t Word<br />

Computer s<strong>of</strong>tware is a valuable tool in the world today. This<br />
hands-on course will survey the concepts related to using<br />
word processing s<strong>of</strong>tware and the dedicated utilization <strong>of</strong><br />
such s<strong>of</strong>tware. A strong emphasis will be placed on applying<br />
word processing skills in a variety <strong>of</strong> situations and subject<br />
areas.<br />

IM 128 Electronic Publishing<br />

This course introduces students to the concepts and practice<br />
<strong>of</strong> electronic publishing. Most <strong>of</strong> the course consists <strong>of</strong><br />
intensive training with electronic publishing s<strong>of</strong>tware<br />
supporting student projects in the College laboratories.<br />
Analysis <strong>of</strong> student projects and study <strong>of</strong> design principles<br />
train students to distinguish excellent quality in publishing<br />
products and to create projects that conform to industry<br />
standards for excellence.<br />
