IM 325 Data Processing and Information Management<br />

3 credits (CS)<br />

This course deals with business data processing systems<br />

usage, applications and issues. Preparation and analysis <strong>of</strong><br />

reports and use <strong>of</strong> data in management decisions is included.<br />

Data processing and analysis are applied to common aspects<br />

in management. (Offered annually). Prerequisite: IM 120<br />

IM 326 E-Commerce<br />

3 credits (CS)<br />

Electronic commerce (EC) describes doing business –<br />

primarily buying and selling <strong>of</strong> goods and services – on the<br />

Web. Thanks to its 24x7 availability, global reach, and<br />

interaction and information delivery capabilities, the Web is<br />

rapidly becoming a multi-billion dollar source <strong>of</strong> revenue for<br />

doing business across the globe. This course will help<br />

students perceive and understand the opportunities and risks<br />

that lie ahead for e-commerce and EC Web sites. Students<br />

should be able to identify the technological, business, and<br />

social forces that have shaped the growth <strong>of</strong> e-commerce and<br />

extend that understanding into the years ahead. The course<br />

will also develop an understanding <strong>of</strong> online marketing as it<br />

applies to the Internet.<br />

LG 111 Beginning Spanish I<br />

3 credits (AS)<br />

This course introduces students to the fundamental skills<br />

necessary to communicate in Spanish. The course also<br />

enables students to become familiar with a culture other than<br />

their own and to learn about the similarities and differences<br />

in behavioral patterns and customs. Students should have no<br />

more than one year (or the equivalent <strong>of</strong> prior experience) in<br />

college-level Spanish. (Offered fall term)<br />

LG 112 Beginning Spanish II<br />

3 credits (AS)<br />

This is a continuation <strong>of</strong> the skill building begun in LG 111<br />

Beginning Spanish I. Students should have no more than one<br />

year (or the equivalent <strong>of</strong> prior experience) in college-level<br />

Spanish. (Offered spring term)<br />

LG 121 Beginning French I<br />

3 credits (AS)<br />

This course introduces students to the fundamental skills<br />

necessary to communicate and function in French. The<br />

course also enables students to become familiar with a culture<br />

other than their own and to learn about the similarities and<br />

LG 131 Beginning American Sign Language I<br />

3 credits (AS)<br />

A beginning course in American Sign Language as used<br />

within the American deaf community, including a basic study<br />

<strong>of</strong> manual-visual communication with an introduction to<br />

vocabulary, sentence structure, and elementary conversations.<br />

Receptive skills (reading signs) and expressive skills (signing<br />

one’s own thoughts) will be emphasized. Introduction to deaf<br />

culture is included. (Offered fall term)<br />

LG 132 Beginning American Sign Language II<br />

3 credits (AS)<br />

This is a continuation <strong>of</strong> the skill-building begun in LG 131<br />

Beginning American Sign Language I. (Offered spring term)<br />

Prerequisite: LG 131 Beginning American Sign Language II<br />

LG 211 Intermediate Spanish I<br />

3 credits (AS)<br />

This course is an expansion <strong>of</strong> the introductory course.<br />

During the second year <strong>of</strong> instruction, practice in listening<br />

comprehension and speaking, already begun, is reinforced<br />

continuously as the student’s pr<strong>of</strong>iciency increases. Continued<br />

improvement in reading, writing, and grammar skills,<br />

accompanied by broadened understanding <strong>of</strong> Spanish culture<br />

(both European and Latin American), will require greater<br />

concentration.<br />

This is a continuation <strong>of</strong> the skill-building begun in LG 211<br />

This course is an expansion <strong>of</strong> the introductory French<br />
