18.3 Questions and Answers<br />
18.3.1 Powering Up<br />
Question/Problem<br />
Xdcr LED stays red after the twenty second power up<br />
phase<br />
Xdcr LED is red for the first twenty seconds after<br />
power up then turns green<br />
The LS EN (Ethernet Link Status) is not green or<br />
flashing green<br />
Answer/Solution<br />
Check transducer cable connections.<br />
Verify transducer cable is not damaged.<br />
There may be an internal error in the Net Box.<br />
This is normal operation.<br />
Check Ethernet cable connections.<br />
18.3.2 Communications<br />
Question/Problem<br />
What IP address is assigned to the Net F/T?<br />
How can the Net F/T system be set to the default IP<br />
address of 192.168.1.1?<br />
DHCP is not assigning an IP address<br />
Browser cannot find the Net F/T on Ethernet network<br />
even though the Net F/T configuration utility reports<br />
an IP address<br />
Incorrect CAN Bus Base Address, DeviceNet MAC<br />
ID, and/or Baud Rate reported<br />
<strong>System</strong> status reports DeviceNet Protocol Failure<br />
when using DeviceNet<br />
Answer/Solution<br />
See Section 6.1—Finding Net F/Ts on the <strong>Network</strong>.<br />
Set DIP switch 9 to the ON position (see Section 3.10—DIP<br />
Switches and Termination Resistor). The Net F/T must be power<br />
cycled for the new setting to be used.<br />
Ethernet LAN must be connected during power up.<br />
DHCP is not selected as the IP Address Mode on the<br />
Communications page.<br />
The DHCP server waits more than thirty seconds to respond.<br />
Clear the Windows computer’s ARP table to remove memory of a<br />
previous device that used the same IP address as the Net F/T by<br />
restarting the computer or, if you have administrative privileges, by<br />
going to the computer’s Start menu, selecting Run..., and entering<br />
“arp –d *”.<br />
Power must be present on the Pwr/CAN connector to correctly<br />
report these values.<br />
DeviceNet is not available unless power is present on the Pwr/CAN<br />
connector.<br />
18.3.3 Java Demo<br />
Question/Problem<br />
Demo displays zeros for force and torque values and<br />
question marks for configuration data<br />
Excessive IO exception: Receive timed out errors<br />
Error message: IO exception: <br />
(The process cannot access the file because it is<br />
being used by another process)<br />
The message Could not find the main class. Program<br />
will exit appears in a window titled Java Virtual<br />
Machine Launcher.<br />
Answer/Solution<br />
Check IP address and restart demo.<br />
The Ethernet connection was interrupted. Check Ethernet cabling<br />
and Net F/T power.<br />
Selected file for data is in use by another program. Close file or<br />
change file name and press Collect Streaming again.<br />
Computer requires a newer version of Java. Java may be<br />
downloaded from www.java.com/getjava.<br />
