ağırladığı bir sırada Hindistan’a gezi düzenlemeye karar verdi. Amacı,
Hindistan’daki günlük hayatı ve Hint mihracelerinin nasıl yaşadığını
belgelemektir. Yola çıkmadan önce Louis Vuitton’a, seyahati karelere
aktarmak üzere tuttuğu iki fotoğrafçının; Stephane Passet ve Roger
Dumas’nın tüm ekipmanlarını rahat taşımaları amacıyla bir Vuittonite
bavul siparişi verdi. Kırmızı kanvas kaplı bu özel sandığın içine yerleştirilen
bölmeler, yanlarına aldıkları tüm makineleri ve parçalarını
herhangi bir hasar görmeden yolculuk etmelerini sağlayacaktı. Bu
özel ‘LV Trunk’ın kendisi ve geziden geriye kalan fotoğraf kareleri
uzun yıllar Mumbai’de sergilendikten sonra artık yuvaya dönerek
Asniéres’deki yerini aldı.
O günden bu yana, Louis Vuitton’un Asniéres’deki imalathanesinde;
çinko, bakır, ahşap, kanvas, deri (farklı yöntemlerle işlenen timsah,
fil, yılan vb.) gibi materyaller kullanılarak özel üretim yapılmaya devam
ediliyor. Seine nehrinin kenarına kurulan bu yerleşke, Louis Vuitton
ismini heyecan verici tasarımlarla yaşatmaya devam ediyor…
2016’ya gelindiğinde bahsettiğimiz efsanevi ‘trunk’lar artık Asniéres’de
çalışan zanaatkarların hünerli ellerinden geçiyor. Nadir ve egzotik
derilerle özel olarak üretilen kilit parçalar burada imal edilmeye
devam ediyor. Bir defaya mahsus yapılan kusursuz bu sandık-bavullar,
yeni teknik buluş ve markanın kendine özgü stilini bir araya
getiriyor. Asniéres atölyesi, Modaevi’nin gerçek anlamda kalbinin de
tam merkezinde yer alıyor; ailenin tüm erkekleri burada ‘bavul imalatı’
eğitiminden geçiyor. Artık, özel siparişle üretim yapan bölümün
başında torunlardan Patrick-Louis Vuitton bulunuyor.
Detay ve kesinlik, imalathanenin ‘trunk’ üretiminde kusursuzluğu
yakalamak adına en önem verdiği şeyler. Ortaya çıkarılan ürün ister
iPad sandığı olsun, isterseniz keman kutusu, fark etmiyor. Sonuç olarak,

LVMH’nin bugünkü Kreatif Direktörü Nicholas Ghesquiére tarafından
tasarlanan ‘Petite Malle’ (Minik Bavul), markanın ölümsüz sembolünü
bayanların gündelik kullanımında taşıyacağı forma getirmesi ayrı

ordered a Vuittonite suitcase in order for his two photographers,

canvas covered trunk, made sure that all the equipment could be
transported without getting damaged. This special ‘LV Trunk’ and the
photos that were taken during the trip came home and were placed
in Asniéres, after having been exhibited in Mumbai for many years.
Since that day, special orders have been made in the atelier of
Louis Vuitton in Asniéres, using zinc, coper, wood, canvas, leather
(crocodile, snake, etc.) This compound, which is located by the Seine
River, continues to keep the name Louis Vuitton alive with many
exciting designs.
These legendary trunks in 2016 are now made by the skilful hands
of the craftsmen working in Asniéres. The pieces with special locks,
as well as rare and exotic leathers continue being produced there.
These perfect trunk-suitcases that are unique, combine the brand’s
original style with the new technological inventions. Asniéres atelier
lies literally at the heart of the boutique. All the men in the family
are trained in ‘suitcase making’. Now, the head of the department
that is responsible for special orders is one of the grand sons, Patrick-Louis
Vuitton.
Details and accuracy are what the atelier gives most importance to
in order to achieve perfection. It doesn’t matter if the end product
is an iPad chest, or a violin box. The main idea that started the boutique
and still lies at the heart of it is ‘traveling’. The ‘Petite Malle’
(small suitcase), which was designed by the present-day creative
director of LVMH, Nicholas Ghesquiére; puts the immortal symbol of
the brand in a small enough form for the women to use it daily and
adds a nice nuance in the wide range of accessorizes.
