78 There is a reversal of lines b and c here in <strong>Patna</strong> and Pāḷi. These three verses (actually 2 1/2) are<br />

found in the same order at the end of the Nāgavaggo in the Pāḷi, where they seem to have hardly<br />

any connection with the theme of the chapter.<br />

79 Roth reads: mātreyyatā ... petreyyatā in this line, which is perhaps to be preferred.<br />

80 I can find no parallel to this line in the Pāḷi.
