are often avoided insofar as such references may create confusion, e.g., if the Statute has been<br />

amended.<br />

Statutes are published in English in the Laws of the State of Israel (L.S.I.). Cite these statutes by<br />

volume, “L.S.I.”, first page of the statute, <strong>and</strong> year of publication.<br />

2.2 Legislative Draft Bills<br />

Cite draft legislation by title, year, series in which the legislation is published (Hatza-ot Hok,<br />

abbreviated H.H.), <strong>and</strong> first page of the legislation:<br />

Amana, abbreviated “K.A.”), date of adoption (optional), volume number, first page of the treaty,<br />

3.0 Jurisprudence<br />

Cite cases by type of procedure, case number, district or city in which the court is located if the<br />

case was decided by a District or Magistrate Court (in parentheses), name of the parties (in bold,<br />

separated by “v.”), abbreviated title of the reporter, volume, part (in parentheses), <strong>and</strong> first page<br />

of the case:<br />

3.1 Procedure Types<br />

The two basic procedure types are civil cases (C.C.) <strong>and</strong> criminal cases (Cr. C.). General<br />

motions may be heard in the civil instance as civil motions (C.M.) or in criminal instances as<br />

criminal motions (Cr. M.).<br />

Cases may be heard in a first instance in the Magistrate Court or in the District Court, depending<br />

on the matter of the case <strong>and</strong> the amount claimed.<br />
