Zanzibar has a separate judicial system, which includes a High Court, Kadhis Courts, <strong>and</strong><br />

Magistrates Courts. Decisions of the Zanzibar High Court can be appealed <strong>to</strong> the Court of<br />

Appeals, except for those involving issues of constitutional or Islamic law. Islamic courts also<br />

operate in Zanzibar <strong>and</strong> have jurisdiction over cases involving Muslim residents in the areas of<br />

marriage, divorce, <strong>and</strong> inheritance.<br />
