II. CITATION GUIDE<br />

There is no uniform code of citation in Pakistan. What follows represents a common form for<br />

citations in English.<br />

1.0 Constitution<br />

Cite the Constitution by abbreviated title (“Const.”) (in small caps), article, section <strong>and</strong><br />

paragraph referenced. When the Constitution cited is no longer in force, place the year in<br />

parentheses:<br />

2.0 Legislation<br />

2.1.1 Federal Statutes<br />

Cite federal statutes by article or section referenced, title, <strong>and</strong> number <strong>and</strong> year (in parentheses):<br />

S.11, Federal Minister <strong>and</strong> Ministers of State (Salaries <strong>and</strong> Allowances <strong>and</strong> Privileges)<br />

Act (LXII of 1975).<br />

2.1.2 Provincial Statutes<br />

Cite provincial statutes by article or section referenced, title, <strong>and</strong> year:<br />

S.21, Punjab Civil Servants Act, 1974.<br />

2.1.3 Presidential Orders<br />

Cite presidential orders by title (optional), “Pres. Order No.” or “P.O. No.”, order number, year,<br />

<strong>and</strong> article or section referenced:<br />

Revival of the Constitution of 1973 order, 1985: P.O. No. 14 of 1985, Art.2 <strong>and</strong> Sch. item<br />

parentheses), <strong>and</strong> the reporter in which the order is published (usually the Official Gazette,<br />

abbreviated “O.G.”) by volume, abbreviated title, page, date [month year (in parentheses)], <strong>and</strong><br />

article or section referenced:<br />
