1. Living household<br />

DEFINITIONS USED IN THE Survey<br />

<strong>Household</strong> in this survey means an individual or a group of persons living together in one<br />

place in which they are related or not related with a kinship relation, and that they form<br />

a living unit based on a joint expenditure budget.<br />

Any individual who spends six months at least with the household during the month of<br />

the survey is considered a household me<strong>mb</strong>er.<br />

<strong>The</strong>refore, individuals in the military force or commIsSIoning military service are<br />

considered as a living household me<strong>mb</strong>er in case they fulfill the condition of living six<br />

months at least with the household during the month of the survey. Whereas sons<br />

working or recruited in the military force are not considered as a living household<br />

me<strong>mb</strong>er if they do not live permanently or temporarily for a period. of six continuous<br />

months during the month of the survey.<br />

Also fully accommodated (food and residency) servants are considered household<br />

me<strong>mb</strong>ers, thus expenses paid by the household for servants are recorded, while expenses<br />

paid by servants themselves are not considered.<br />

Furthermore, visitors and guests not living for six months or more with the household<br />

during the month of the survey are not considered.<br />

2. Head of the household<br />

This person is responsible for managing the expenses policy of the household. <strong>The</strong><br />

household selects the person who could be its provider; it need not be the oldest person<br />

in the household, and the household head can be male or female.<br />

3. Visitor<br />

He is the person who shares with the household food and residency for a one day<br />

minimum and six months maximum till the end of the month of the survey. <strong>The</strong> visitor<br />

could be a relative or not.<br />

4. Survey unit<br />

<strong>The</strong> living household is considered as a surveyed unit in this survey.<br />
