e l’ultimo scorcio dell’anno.
commodity mostrano tuttavia dinamiche
dei prezzi differenziate in funzione di diverse
variabili e delle determinanti che le influenzano
dal lato della domanda e dell’offerta.
ROTTAMI FERROSI
(correttivo, lamierino nuovo sciolto e in pacchi)
Foundry raw materials:
trends in 2023 and first
signs for 2024
After the general decline of last year,
2024 has begun with major unknowns
After the general decline of last year, 2024
has begun with major unknowns especially for
pig iron, hit by the new package of sanctions
against Russia.
Three years of intense volatility in commodities,
whose prices rose from the lows of 2020
to break all records with the historic peaks of
March-April 2022, were followed by a general
normalisation of the markets in 2023, with annual
averages that, for all major commodities,
were in line with or slightly lower than those of
2021, but still a marked distance from 2020.
Over the course of 2023, the trend was substantially
downward, albeit with some bullish
movements that characterised the first quarter
and the last part of the year.
Despite the common background scenario,
however, individual commodities showed differentiated
price dynamics depending on different
variables and the determinants that influenced
them on the supply and demand side.
FERROUS SCRAP
The annual average in 2023 for ferrous foundry
scrap in the different quality types (cupola
ferrous scrap, new ferrous scrap for electric
furnace and packages) was in a range between
-12% and -13% on 2022 levels (-60 €/t and -70
€/t). However, the gap compared to pre-Covid
levels in 2019 was still wide for all three categories
of scrap and travels on an average of
more than +45%.
During 2023, however, prices maintained
