A RESPONSIBLE GROUP / CIVIC INVOLVEMENT<br />
Our civic involvement<br />
<strong>VINCI</strong> decided to support community projects that promote solidarity and contribute<br />
to improving social cohesion and the quality of life in urban neighbourhoods.<br />
Consistent with its tradition and experience as a builder, <strong>VINCI</strong> is also heavily<br />
involved in heritage preservation. As an extension of the Group’s commitment,<br />
individual <strong>VINCI</strong> companies have initiated many of their own projects, with a<br />
particular focus on long-term local action.<br />

Supporting<br />
inclusion through<br />
work<br />
THE <strong>VINCI</strong> FOUNDATION<br />
Designed as a means of channelling practical<br />
and fi nancial support into the drive<br />
to promote employment and build social<br />
cohesion in diffi cult neighbourhoods,<br />
the <strong>VINCI</strong> Foundation for the Community<br />
works alongside more than 200 agencies<br />
engaged in the fi ght against exclusion.<br />
These include GEIQ (employer groups<br />
that create job and training opportunities),<br />
community associations and companies<br />
that create jobs for the unemployed.<br />
Therefore the <strong>VINCI</strong> Foundation has been<br />
putting the Group’s commitment to social<br />
responsibility into practice since its creation<br />
in 2003.<br />
In <strong>2005</strong>, the <strong>VINCI</strong> Foundation supported<br />
82 projects that created bridges between<br />
the business world and the voluntary sector.<br />
Its involvement combines fi nancial support<br />
(an average of €15,500 per project) and<br />
skills-based sponsorship: each project<br />
is sponsored and monitored by a <strong>VINCI</strong><br />

Contribute to heritage<br />
preservation<br />
employee (called a “pilot”), who contributes<br />
personal skills and draws on his or<br />
her network of contacts. The third national<br />
gathering of project pilots was held at<br />
<strong>VINCI</strong>’s headquarters in November <strong>2005</strong>.<br />
In its three years of activity, the Foundation’s<br />
support and employee involvement<br />
have given more than 150 people access<br />
to a work-experience placement or job<br />
within a <strong>VINCI</strong> company, and helped<br />
about 50 job creation organisations fi nd<br />
commercial outlets.<br />
The <strong>VINCI</strong> Foundation also supports<br />
a number of external initiatives within<br />
the context of its goal to promote social<br />
inclusion through employment. With a<br />
view to fostering equal opportunities,<br />
it is a partner of the “Talents des Cités”<br />
competition organised by the French<br />
Senate and the Ministry of Employment,<br />
Social Cohesion and Housing. In addition,<br />
it has provided support to NGOs specialising<br />
in helping disabled people fi nd jobs.<br />
In <strong>2005</strong>, the <strong>VINCI</strong> Foundation extended<br />
its sphere of activity to other countries,<br />
providing backing for projects in Africa<br />
and Germany.<br />

‰ 82 projects supported by the <strong>VINCI</strong> Foundation.<br />
‰ Support for “Talents des Cités” competition.<br />
‰ Completion of the restoration of the fi rst half of the Hall<br />
of Mirrors at Versailles.<br />
‰ Corporate sponsorship of the Guimet Museum.<br />
‰ Dissemination of information about archaeological<br />
discoveries.
