JANUARY ➤ As co-developer of the project with Nexity, <strong>VINCI</strong> launches the<br />

Granite tower project designed by architect Christian de Portzamparc in<br />

Paris-La Défense for the Société Générale. <strong>VINCI</strong> Construction is responsible for<br />

the structural work on the building and <strong>VINCI</strong> Energies for all technical works<br />

packages.<br />

➤ <strong>VINCI</strong> Construction signs two contracts, one in Italy, the other in Mexico, to<br />

build liquefi ed natural gas tanks. In Chile, the Group is in charge of design,<br />

construction, fi nancing and operation of the Chiloé bridge, which will be<br />

Latin America’s longest (2,634 metres) suspension bridge.<br />

➤ Eurovia acquires the British TE Beach company to become a major player on<br />

the London road construction and maintenance market.<br />

FEBRUARY ➤ After a two-year studies phase, Tunzini (<strong>VINCI</strong> Energies) begins<br />

climate engineering and fl uid distribution work at the Laser Mégajoule (LMJ)<br />

being built near Bordeaux for the French atomic energy authority (CEA). The<br />

laboratory is an essential part of the Simulation programme aimed at ensuring<br />

the long-term future of France’s nuclear deterrent capability without resorting<br />

to nuclear tests. The Laser Mégajoule will be operational in 2010.<br />

MARCH ➤ On 31 March, the government signs a concession contract with<br />

<strong>VINCI</strong> Concessions subsidiary Arcour covering design, construction, fi nancing<br />

and operation of the 101 km Artenay-Courtenay section of the<br />

A19 motor-<br />

way that will link the A10 with the A6 in 2009.<br />

➤ <strong>VINCI</strong> Construction wins a €135 million contract for a new offi ce building<br />

at the the European Investment Bank (EIB) headquarters headquarters in Luxembourg.<br />

APRIL ➤ In Germany, <strong>VINCI</strong> Construction signs a €47 million public-private<br />

partnership contract with the municipality of Bedburg, near Cologne, covering<br />

modernisation, maintenance and operation of approximately 15 schools<br />

for a period of 25 years.<br />

MAY ➤ After matching the donations made by its employees to aid the populations<br />

of South-East Asia affected by the tsunami on 26 December 2004, <strong>VINCI</strong><br />

presented Médecins du Monde and Unicef with a cheque for €406,736.<br />

➤ The Shareholders Meeting approves the two-for-one split of the nominal value<br />

of the <strong>VINCI</strong> share and the concomitant doubling of the number of shares.<br />

➤ Eurovia and Van Wellen (a subsidiary of CFE) join forces to create a construction<br />

materials storage, processing and trading facility in the port of Antwerp,<br />

Belgium. The site will supply the Northern European markets, which have a<br />

shortage of roadworks materials, in particular.
