At the same time new websites <strong>and</strong> portals have been developed, in coordination<br />

with Cubarte, thus avoiding repetition <strong>and</strong> favouring the shortest access to available<br />

information <strong>and</strong> the establishment of hierarchical relations. For example Cubarte<br />

Gallery, which was initially one section of Cubarte portal, is today a website showing<br />

59 exhibitions, 173 artists, 1 037 works of art <strong>and</strong> receiving an average of 654 visits<br />

per day.<br />

A glance at the Cuban culture through its cultural portals<br />

A tangible indicator of new services development is the fact that information<br />

available on the websites is also complemented <strong>and</strong> communicated through various<br />

e-bulletins <strong>and</strong> e-newsletters that bring users’ attention to available cultural content<br />

(Cubarte, 2006). We can mention a news bulletin in Spanish, first issued in 2001<br />

which allows those readers who wish to be informed to get access via e-mail, instead<br />

of having to spend time surfing the Internet. As of May 15 of this same year, Cubarte<br />
