<strong>Progress</strong> & Significant Results This Quarter:<br />
1. An extensive review of both existing practice and existing experience with Clearview has been c<strong>on</strong>ducted; in additi<strong>on</strong>, literature for previous<br />
studies of user percepti<strong>on</strong> and resp<strong>on</strong>se has been reviewed for state of the art analysis methodology. (completed 11/15/10)<br />
2. With the field study criteria and survey questi<strong>on</strong>s in mind, photographs were taken al<strong>on</strong>g the interstate highways near-c<strong>on</strong>tinuously; GPS<br />
coordinates were obtained for each sign or picture taken. The following sign characteristics are noted in c<strong>on</strong>necti<strong>on</strong> with data entry and coding:<br />
f<strong>on</strong>t, sheeting, sign type, locati<strong>on</strong>, year fabricated, and others. The visual records also brought to light more questi<strong>on</strong>s for the district and central<br />
sign shops. (field survey completed 7/30/11, data entry and organizati<strong>on</strong> 12/1/11).<br />
3. The road user survey was <strong>on</strong>line and distributed via the NUTC webpage and at tollway oases from October 1- December 15, 2011. Drivers were<br />
intercepted at four locati<strong>on</strong>s to compare Clearview and E-modified f<strong>on</strong>t in different c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s. Of the intended 375 intercept resp<strong>on</strong>ses, 303 were<br />
collected. Final intercept locati<strong>on</strong>s are as follows:<br />
A. Clearview: I-94 Lake Forest Tollway Oasis and I-80 in Morris, mile 112<br />
B. E-modified: I-90 Des Plaines Tollway Oasis and I-57 in Gilman, mile 283 (complete 11/15/2011)<br />
<strong>Progress</strong> through 3/31/12<br />
The draft report was submitted to ICT for final editing.<br />
Anticipated Work Next Quarter:<br />
1. The first draft of the final report has been completed and submitted <strong>on</strong> schedule by January 15, 2012. A preliminary draft is available for TRP<br />
review and approval.<br />
