Project Description:
A series of check dams will be tested at the site as per IDOTâ€s recommendation. The testing procedure closely follows D7208-06 (Methods and
Standards for Testing Temporary Ditch Check) which is described below in detail. (Similar procedure will be used for measuring the performance
of other ditch checks in future as per IDOTâ€s recommendation). The project investigators will consult and discuss the details of each method
with the Technical Review Committee of IDOT for this project. The specific objectives of this proposal are to:
(1) Evaluate the performance of ditch checks in different slope conditions
(2) Install and evaluate the performance of inlet protection devices
(3) Help IDOT in refining the specifications of ditch checks and inlet protection devices
(4) Provide demonstration and training to IDOT on the installation and effectiveness of ditch checks and inlet protection measures
