This will include a field program of observing and recording driver behavior around actual work zone setups, as well as focus groups to gather insight into driver interpretations of work zone setups. From the data gathered during observations and focus groups, ARA will conduct a field experiment where we manipulate various work zone setups and observe changes in driver behavior. Finally, we will draft and submit specific recommendations based on these findings for incorporation into traffic control standards.
