Using the University of Illinois full-scale testing equipment ATLaS, field performances of the laboratory studied Illinois aggregates will be adequately evaluated for subgrade replacement and subbase in the Phase II research project ICT R27-81. The aggregate thickness tentative correction factors presented and the recommendations made based on the findings from the Phase I laboratory study will be validated and finalized in the Phase II field study to ultimately economize the use of aggregate in the State of Illinois by either reducing thickness or avoiding failures due to poor quality aggregate cover performances.
